Follow the evolution of Chikki: Forgotten Roots as we transform an early gameplay prototype into a rich narrative platformer filled with exploration, memorable environments, and meaningful storytelling.

Every game starts with a simple idea. For Chikki, it began as a platforming prototype before gradually becoming a story-driven adventure. Throughout development we''ve refined movement, expanded the world, experimented with environmental storytelling, and built gameplay systems that encourage exploration rather than simply moving from one level to the next.

From prototype to world

The earliest Chikki build was a single test scene focused on movement feel. Each iteration added a layer — first traversal, then environmental storytelling, then characters and memory.

Designing for discovery

We wanted players to feel like archaeologists in their own pace. Levels are built to reward curiosity rather than completion percentages.

Where we''re heading

Chikki is still in development, and every system continues to evolve. This devlog explores how our ideas evolved and how each iteration brought us closer to the experience we want players to have.
